NIKKOR F 105MM MICRO G ED

I’ve been renting this lens for macro work, and the f/2.8 aperture lets in so much light that I can shoot handheld indoors without raising the ISO too high. The ED glass really cuts down on color fringing, which was a pleasant surprise on close-up flower shots.

The VR on this lens is incredibly effective — I was able to nail handheld macro shots at 1/60th of a second that would have been blurry with any other lens I've used. The build feels solid and the focus ring has just the right amount of dampening.

Rented this for a weekend of flower photography and the close-focusing ability on the 105mm was incredible for capturing tiny details. It was very sharp, even wide open, and the rental unit was in pristine condition.
